Somehow we learn more about life from death, than from life itself. I watched Sheryl Sandberg’s commencement address at Berkeley, and was surprised how moved I was with her inner strength, as she spoke about the death of her husband. As she spoke about her loss, my own losses came front and center. Deep loss, changes us deeply.
Ms. Sandberg spoke eloquently about personalization, pervasiveness and permanence of loss. The message is simple – even though we tend to blame ourselves, it is not our fault; sorrow will not over power every aspect of our life, that sorrow is not permanent, and that we must be resilient and find joy with a spirit of gratitude.
I encourage you to watch her entire address:
Gratitude, resilience, counting our blessings, and finding joy.
So much to learn from this amazing lady.
