I find great comfort in lighting a candle when I go to church. I find peace in places of worship and pray for those that I love, and those that are part of my small world.
This past week, in an ancient church in Lisbon, I lit candles for my sister as she fights her personal battle; for my family who celebrate new beginnings and for those in my tribe that add meaning to my life.
I should get into the habit of lighting the candle figuratively in my quiet moments with my God, even when I am not in a place of worship.
My spiritual conversations with the divine bring me great solace and tranquility. The little candle somehow always sheds lights on what’s really important.
