A certain void has settled in her eyes. The voice is monotone, and the emotion is lacking. No spark of joy, or sorrow — just a lost, distant look. Her demons are real. Her journey is sad.
Dementia impacts both the afflicted and the care giver. It is difficult to see the quiet suffering of a loved one who has become a shell of their former self. The body is whole, the spirit is broken.
We must say a silent prayer for these wonderful people who have lost their spirit and are trapped. There is no coming back from this private hell.
