As I celebrate love in Venice, the city of love, I am deeply saddened by the hate crime that left so many dead back home in Florida.
The human spirit thrives in love. We seek it, cherish it, bask in its glow, and mourn when we are stripped of it by life’s cruel hand.
What leaves me bewildered is the deep seeded hate, that motivates someone to kill innocent people for the sake of killing.
Today is not a time for jockeying for political position, or for debating ideology. Today is a day to mourn the dead, to let our hearts reach out to those that grieve, and to pray that in the long run love will triumph over hate.
