Money, money, money, must be funny, in the rich man’s world.
Money, money, money, always sunny, in the rich man’s world….
All the things I could do, If I had a little money, It’s a rich man’s world.
Famous lyrics from the Abba hit don’t necessarily ring true. As long as we treat money as a means to an end, as opposed to an end in itself, we can pursue happiness.
My friend Brian Smith, sent me an article recently published in the Tampa Bay Business Journal, by Bob Buford, that suggests that making beyond $75,000 per year may actually make us less happy.
Money does not make us invincible, clearly won’t make us happier, and we certainly can’t buy our way our of life’s tragedies. The sad part is that I know too many people who chase the dollar, sometimes at the expense of relationships and their quality of life, and end up poor in more ways than one.
I also know for certain that no one takes their money with them, when they finally meet their maker. A poor measure of the value of an individual to society, is the size of their bank balance.
