Obsessive Perfection

details

I have tremendous regard for those who are obsessive perfectionists.

The unwillingness to compromise, cut corners, or take the easy path creates value that builds loyalty and memorable experiences for your customers.

I envy those who are perfectionists, as I don’t have the attention to detail, or the wherewithal to engage in the nitty gritty. I recently had an experience with Dennis, of ICU Securities, that left me impressed and marveling at his unwillingness to take ‘no’ for an answer on a home project. I told him to take the easy way out, but he refused. The end result? The same functionality, but a neater finished product. Impressive.

He ended up with more money, a permanent spot in my rolodex and my secret admiration for his work. I know it can be fulfilling to go the extra mile to create extraordinary experiences for your customers. It’s not just about money — it’s about doing the right thing.

I always tell my students to sweat the little things, though that attention to detail will always be a challenge for me.
