Sometimes, it is difficult to fathom. The people who are hardest on us, are usually on our side. This is true for bosses and subordinates; teachers and students.
My students find the idea very novel, that contrary to their beliefs, ours is not an adversarial relationship. I am on their side.
When we shift the mind set, we shift the dialogue, and the motivation. I like people being on my side — makes life simpler.
