Oscar Wild

As we grieved the unfortunate passing of Oliver, our beloved family Bichon for almost 15 years, the void he left in our home was real.

And then, soon after, I met Oscar Wild. A four pound fur-ball with a big dog attitude.  I broke all my self imposed rules, and much to Rohini’s delight, brought him home.  The things I do to see a smile on her beautiful face!

This past week or so, Oscar has stolen my heart. As Rohini travels home from India, he and I have had the opportunity to bond. Maybe it’s his vulnerability, his unlimited cuteness quotient or his naughty antics, Oscar rules the roost.

There are toys scattered everywhere around our home. At least two pairs of my favorite slippers have succumbed to puppy teeth, and I seem to pick up after him all the time. Yet, there is boundless joy that this new life has brought to our family.

I am so blessed that Rohini helped me discover the dog lover in me. I am certainly a better person for it. And somewhere over the rainbow bridge, I know Oliver is smiling…….
