Our Dads

I couldn’t help but think about my Dad this morning. I spent a few quiet minutes talking to his photograph this Fathers Day. How I wish, I could snatch him from the heavens to hear his voice, and hug him one more time.

I hurt for a young woman who last her Dad yesterday, in a tragic and horrific accident. My heart cries for her. The fragility of life comes front and center one more time.

Sometimes we take for granted, the many sacrifices that Dads’ make to raise their families. I certainly have a deeper appreciation today, for the sacrifices my father made so I could have a better life.

And then I was blessed to celebrate with my grown up children. A quiet breakfast and some much needed laughter and warmth. Such is the beauty of family. When all else fails, they make it all worthwhile.

I cherish my role as a Dad. My children really give so much meaning to my life. Thank you Dad, for leading by example. And for being the father I strive to be every day.
