Our World of Hate

I can’t fathom our world of hate. Driven by color, perceived economic persecution, and historical benchmarks — and sometimes just because we can — we hate with greater fervor than with which we love. I don’t understand any of it.

It saddens me that the death of innocent people is written off as collateral damage. And the powers that be, manipulate the rhetoric for political gain. They bury their heads in the sand, and don’t see the turmoil in the hearts of a nation.

Have we learned nothing from history? I saw Auschwitz. I saw the camps. I saw the mass incinerators. I saw the symbols of what was left of the over 1.5 million Jews who died for no fault of theirs. No one won. No one ever does, when innocence is slaughtered. We must learn from history, not repeat it.

Is this the lesson we want to teach our children? Is this the world we want to leave for them?

It’s a sad day for America, and for each and everyone of us that loves this beautiful country.
