Perspective

The images of the destruction by the earthquake in Turkey are painful to watch.  The 60 Minutes story on the war in Ukraine tugs at the heart strings. The personal struggles of my sister as she battles cancer, and the side effects of chemo feel like a punch in the gut.

The suffering around us creates perspective. It helps crystallize for me, what’s important and what’s banal.  A certain sadness descends into the soul as I see the human toll of natures fury, senseless war, and the pain and suffering of someone I love.

We must focus on what’s really important — family, relationships, and our work.  The rest of the noise in our world should simply be ignored.
