Platitude

Platitude: Noun –
A banal, trite, or stale remark, especially one uttered as if it were fresh or profound.

It’s all going to be ok; you will be fine; you got this; it will all work out — I wish I had a dollar for every time I heard these platitudes these past few weeks.

A quick remark and then back to their normal lives, while those that face the fallout deal with their new, scary reality. And the reality is here to stay.

Sometimes, when you don’t have anything good to say, say nothing. That way you won’t lose face, and the platitudes won’t ring hollow.
