Platitudes

“All will be well”. “Look at the glass as half full”. “Hang in there”.  “Count your blessings”.  

I have often heard these platitudes and find them to be neither interesting nor thoughtful.   As people I love fight the dreaded “C”, the platitudes add insult to injury. When you have nothing meaningful to say, say nothing.  

Maybe times like these call for us to use our listening ears.  A quiet sense of empathy and a silent prayer are more meaningful  than words that ring hollow.
