I am not particularly good about making or keeping new year resolutions. However, I am re-committed to basking in positive energy as a lifestyle choice for the rest of this year…and beyond.
I find negative energy exhausting and debilitating. I find negative people myopic and well — negative. They consistently tell me why something can’t be done, and who should bear the blame for things gone awry. And, of course, it is never their fault.
At work, and at play, negativity is suffocating.
Positivity is energizing and brings with it a warm glow. My friend, Judi, reminds me that happiness stems from surrounding yourself with the right people that are fun to be around and those who help the spirits soar.
Starting today, I promise to remove myself from negative situations — very quickly — address negativity in my company proactively, and create a positive, uplifting workplace. I owe that to my people, and to myself.
Years ago a young lady professor from Dartmouth told me that business, like life is about choices — and that the right choices have the right consequences. I choose to be positive, to surround myself with the right people, and to bring a smile to every life I touch.
