Positive Vibes

circle-of-friends

The older I get I choose to surround myself with people who exude positive energy. I find myself spending time with fewer and fewer people. Those who matter, those who tell me what I need to hear. Those that don’t play games. I have very few close friends and make even fewer friends at this stage in my life. Yes, I have a boring life, and I like it that way – thank you very much.

In the work place, my profession affords me the luxury to pick and chose the people I work with. I stay away from the political power games and the daily gossip. I find that tiring and unnecessary. I am far from perfect. I deal poorly with rejection of my work – pride does that to a lot of us. I am deeply impatient and have poor tolerance for incompetence. I do, however, know how to behave like a true professional. I really do like the people I work with, for the most part.

I work hard, LOVE teaching  and interacting with my students. The classroom is my temple of solace, where I can affect young lives in positive ways. I urge you to seek shelter from the noise. Find comfort in the things that matter to you. Surround yourself with genuine people and do things that really make your heart smile. Life is fragile. Don’t waste it on the banal.
