Incredible India was once a brand promotion for the beauty of India. Now it is a war cry for oxygen and survival amidst the COVID onslaught. The images are horrific — mass cremations, hospitals collapsing under the pressure of those gasping for air, and politicians spinning the horror into calm and hope.
My own inner circle has family members struggling with the symptoms of the deadly virus. I have spoken to numerous friends and family who all talk about the dire circumstances and the collapse of the medical infrastructure. The tragedy could have been avoided, or certainly minimized. It is so sad to see the avoidable loss of life and the loss of human dignity.
Even though I have lived in the US for most of my adult life, India and it’s values, flow in my veins and are engrained in my soul. Today, my heart breaks for the suffering of all these good people, and shame on those that allowed it to happen. Please pray for this suffering to end.
