Is it fair when an employee error costs the employee money?
Does it make a difference if the product is a big ticket item and as much an emotional purchase as it is a financial one?
I came to the realization — thanks to the sane advice of my wife, Rohini — that the person is more important than the product when a deal has been done in principle and the error is discovered. I think a hardworking man’s pocket book is more important than a material comfort and better toys.
I have spent over 27 years working with young people and I owe them that much. Besides, we could all use a second chance.
