Protecting Our Turf

Why do some of us try our best to cover our mistakes at any cost? Is it because we are insecure, or incompetent, or because we seek to not lose face with our boss? Is it imperative that we point fingers, and blame others to protect our turf at any cost?

The truth of the matter is that one lie begets another lie, and then another… And the cycle continues till we fall on our face, fracture our trust and lose our credibility. A facade will last only so long.
We must learn to stand up to our mistakes, own our flaws, and seek to get better – not by hiding our skeletons in the closet, but by taking ownership of what makes us human, so that we can improve as professionals.
How else will we ever get better at our craft?
