Racial Brutality

I was shocked to see disturbing video of a Nigerian student being beaten by a mob in a mall near Delhi, because of the color of his skin. I watched the news about a white man in New York kill a black man, only because he was black. An Indian engineer was recently shot in Kansas only because of his race, leaving behind a young widow and a grieving family.

What is wrong with people? Why can’t we learn to respect each other and share space on God’s good earth? This beautiful world of ours is not the exclusive domain of any one people.

The rhetoric has been caustic, the acts of violence, brutal. Why can’t we learn to be more humane, and follow the fundamental tenants of basic decency? We must learn to respect each other so that we can leave a better world for our children.

The next time you look into a mirror, ask yourself if you are doing your part to lead by example. How else will we ever learn to live and let live?
