Transparency and the free flow of information can be a powerful catalyst to business success. Unfortunately, information is power, and there are many who hold it close to the chest, to get a competitive edge in the work place.
Wrong idea. Wrong strategy.
Practice transparency. Share information as a life source — to create an open culture, to share best practices, to benchmark against the very best. “Don’t tell anyone,” is rather juvenile rhetoric in office politics, and should be left for conversations around the water cooler.
Successful teams share information so that everyone understands their role, and can move towards a common goal. Those that don’t practice transparency might as well bang their heads against the wall. And the wall will always win.
