Alex was turned down for admission to a doctoral program. The sting visible in his face and his psyche. I recall the day I got six — yes six — rejection letters for admission to my PhD program in in one day. Almost as if the mail clerk was collecting them to hand them over at one time, to break my spirit.
I got past the hurt and and approached my dream with a sturdy resolve. Who were they to tell me that I was not good enough? And here I am 25 years later doing what I love because I refused to take NO for an answer.
Treat rejection with disdain, as you would treat the naysayers, to pursue your dreams and keep working. Keep pushing. That’s the beauty of choices when you come to a crossroad in life — you can either turn back, or move towards the rainbow.
