Resilience

start-finish

It is common to make excuses, as to why life does not go according to plan. It is easy to point fingers at others for our shortcomings, or blame our particular circumstances. The good ones rarely complain in the face of adversity. They drown out the noise, put their heads’ down and get the job done. When we focus too much on the outcome, we lose sight of the goal. I tend to admire those that work tirelessly, and never quit.

As Albert Bandura says,  “In order to succeed, people need a sense of self-efficacy” — a belief in our own ability to get the job done — “….together with resilience, to meet the inevitable obstacles and inequities of life”.  It is difficult to get others to believe in us, when we don’t believe in ourselves.
