“I’ll only leave this place when I die”, was Donna’s gesture of goodwill when she rented our villa almost a decade ago. Yesterday Donna, 86, passed away at a local hospital.
Donna was a sweet, kind and dignified lady. She doted on her children and her grand children. She loved playing bridge, and enjoyed her few glasses of wine in the evenings.
I would stop by to see Donna from
time to time, to ensure she was doing well. Her smile lit up the room and she always gave me a
big hug. Rohini called her “Mom”, as she reminded her of her own mother who lives in India. Funny how we build meaningful relationships with people that cross our path.
I will miss seeing Donna’s beautiful face and the sparkle in her eyes. I will celebrate her life with a fine bottle of wine this evening. Cheers to a life well lived.
Rest In Peace, sweet Donna.
