Why do overzealous sales people make a beeline for you as soon as you enter a furniture store? I respect that they work on commission — but there are advantages to being subtle and giving customers some space and time to process their choices.
The funny thing is that as soon as I mention, “I will not be buying anything today,” they move away from me very quickly. Now that makes me feel special.
I think companies should be less sales numbers driven, and look beyond customers as “dollar signs.” If you treat me as a real person, I actually might buy something.
