Every mass shooting, by default, becomes a number. Eight; thirty; twelve — just a number of lives lost to senseless killing by deranged madmen. And then, add a face, a name, a legacy, and it becomes all too real. These are fathers and sons, moms and sisters, who had lives to live, and dreams to fulfill. They leave behind broken lives and shattered hearts.
Each mass shooting represents the death of civility. It should not be this way in one of the most advanced nations in the world. Today, we must grieve for the loss of innocence and hope this madness stops soon. We owe this to our children and the ability to work and play safely, in this place we call home.
