I received an email from Meredith Brown, 2105 Marketing Student of the Year, that reminded me about a conversation we had about passion and finding our calling. This is a wonderful example of what sets my soul on fire:
I remember you trying to help me discover that inner spark, the underlying motivator, of what would make me happy every day in my career. That conversation on that day changed my perspective on the pursuit of happiness in my life, most importantly my everyday life and what my purpose is….
I remember that day coming into your office to talk about Jessy’s Story, but I came out with advice and a memorable conversation I think every college student should have. You were the first person that made me grow up a little bit and realize that… I need to do what “sets my soul on fire. At the end of the day, it’s not who you are working for, but WHY you are working that makes you excited to get up and go to work every day.
I just wanted to stop in and say, thank you, for being the first person to make me look for the ‘why’ in my life and for all you do for students like myself.
I am amazed how sometimes a simple conversation can have a profound impact. Amazing what we can all learn from a young lady.
The key question is, have you found what sets your soul on fire?
