Setup to Fail

You hire smart people, but for the wrong positions. Then you promote them, to reward them for their loyalty. Then, over time, they manage people and resources. And then they become part of the problem.

These good people are setup to fail. They are way out of their league, responsible for areas outside their scope of expertise. Either train them to fit the role, or assign them to the right position to leverage their skills. If you don’t, the train wreck is just a matter of time.
