My job at The University of Tampa (UT) has allowed me to travel around the world during my 24 year tenure at the University. Next stop? Singapore. And then Indonesia.
I am excited to experience new cultures and meet new people. I tend to soak in the culture and am rarely disappointed. Maybe because I go in with a clear mind and no expectations. It’s tough to be disappointed with that approach.
I am particularly excited about spending a few days in Indonesia to visit Yogyakarta — in the heart of volcano country. There is a higher power that protects us all. I am fascinated with the opportunity to visit ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples in that region. A shout out to Rajbir, a dear friend who was the catalyst for the side trip, and for pointing me in the right direction.
30 hours in transit, over 20 hours in the air. It should be interesting. The focus will be on vino, movies, a good book and slowing down the mind.
I hope to share my travels though these pages.
Note to self — stay away from foods you don’t recognize, or those that crawl!
