I recently read profound words of wisdom from Mark Twain: The two most important days in a person’s life are the day they are born, and the day they know why!
The first person to send my intellectual world into a tailspin with this new way of thinking was Simon Sinek. If you have not watched it already, his TED talk on ‘Starting From Why’ was probably the single most powerful 18 minutes that continue to guide my thinking about my business, my life, and my career as an educator.
Time to get off the treadmill, slow down the mind, and reflect on why you do what you do. It is an empowering and enriching exercise that has the potential to shape your thinking. What we do, and how we do it, is only relevant in the context in which our work is done.
I have spent countless hours thinking about my “why” – it has been a rewarding and fulfilling experience that has enabled me to remove the noise from my life.
Try it – it works wonders……
