I am not sure how one reacts when their doctor tells them that they just have a short time to live. How does one cope with having six months to get their house in order, and prepare to die? The ugly “C” word has wrecked havoc on one more life in our university community, and my heart goes out to my colleague and his family.
As I have gotten older, I have learned to appreciate the fragility of life and continue to struggle with the finality of my own losses. I think we must learn to appreciate the gift of life, take time to smell the roses, and not sweat the ‘small stuff’. Lets take a vow to stop the political bickering, the negative energy that permeates our environment, and to treat each day as a gift from a higher power. Count your blessings and express your gratitude, every chance you get.
