The Art of Story Selling

storytelling

I have been a strong proponent of effective story telling, as a key skill that my graduate students need to master. Yesterday, a lady interviewing for a position at the University spoke eloquently about the art of story ‘selling’.

The concept resonated with me, and struck a chord. She spoke about Aristotle and his use of Ethos (credibility), Pathos (emotional effects) and Logos (evidence based logic) as the cornerstones of effective persuasive communication; and story selling.

We like stories, especially those that challenge our thinking, and touch our hearts. It’s the stories we remember, that make us care. These are the stories that make us human. And these are the stories we must continue to share.
