Are you a bobblehead? Do you nod in agreement with your boss only because she or he is the boss? Does a position of leadership entitle a CEO, or a Manager, to expect everyone to agree with them? I think the problem is common, and counter productive, either way you look at it.
I know folks are reluctant to share their views, because they are typically brushed aside with disdain, or because they value their paycheck more than sharing their perspective. “How do I care, as long as my salary shows up in the bank?”
There is something fundamentally wrong with an organization where people are scared to share their talent, and their views. Maybe every company should start a white board where people can write their views, in the public domain, for everyone to see.
“As a company, I think we should…….”
Maybe then we can start initiating meaningful change.
