It’s a little after 5pm and I just sat down at my tablet. I have been struggling a little today to get my thoughts put together cohesively. I knew there would be days like this. I have to write and push through even when I don’t have my “A” game.
Where do you get your inspiration to complete important tasks? I know that good companies use an effective combination of the carrot and the stick to stay on track. I think it is a little harder when you have to police yourself. Procrastination has probably been my biggest weakness. I know it certainly is the most commonly identified personality trait for most of my students. I can assure you, as an educator, I use the stick pretty effectively to get their work in on time.
I have had to do some self policing myself. When I started writing this blog, I set a rule for myself to ensure I write everyday: No wine till I write. That’s a pretty good carrot — or grape, for that matter.
As my Doctor eloquently says, “The first glass of wine is for my heart, the second is for me.” Who am I to ignore the Doctors orders?
Cheers!
