The Cave Digger

Meet Ra Paulette — cave digger extraordinaire. I was fascinated with his story and his masterpieces, that are a labor of love. His passion for digging sandstone caves and creating artistic wonders with ordinary tools, and a rich spirit, are highlighted in this CBS story that is a must watch.

Mr. Paulette seeks solitude, and little else. He works for about $12 an hour, accompanied by his loyal dog. He has spent most of his adult life, alone, perfecting his craft. His goal? To have people find “a sense of peace, and purpose — something he found in his own solitude”.

I am always amazed by ordinary people, who do extraordinary things. They are not driven by money, or fame, or recognition. Just by their inner desire to live their lives on their own terms. If more of us could be like that, this world would certainly be a better place.

We all seek to leave our mark. Ra Paulette’s caves will speak volumes about his talent, way after he is gone.
