The Circle of Influence

As the number of friends on our Facebook page continues to grow, the friends that we can count on — when the chips are down — are merely a handful. We have so many friends, yet are so disconnected today. We grow our professional networks, but compromise on the individual relationships that really matter.

We are more tech savvy, yet we are less personable. Our circle of influence — those whose perspectives really count — continues to shrink.

Life is not just about getting ahead. It is about making a meaningful difference in our small, immediate circle of influence. It’s about creating extraordinary experiences for the people we love. To see a smile in the eyes of these people is a reward in itself.

it is entrapment of the mind that makes one want or need influence for anything either emotional or financial. it is the insecurity that stems from being responsible to protect those for whom you have a priority in your life. so you drop those who are not useful on your climb. so you disconnect.
yet that is how you are prepared for the great passing. steadily being detached from all things which gratify your ego.
