The Cost of Losing

cost-of-losing

The regular NFL season has been barely over, and the heads have started to roll. Head coaches and general managers of storied franchises have bitten the dust. The message? Win or else. Lost amidst the stories of high priced coaches — some who still draw millions from existing contracts — are coaching and administrative staff who find themselves unemployed, right before the new year. Time to uproot their lives and start over.

Losing games is a difficult business. Losing livelihoods can be nerve-racking for families who must now move forward with uncertainly and a little cushion of resources. Winning at any cost is the American way. The cost of losing has severe and far reaching implications.

The human toll of both victory and defeat are bittersweet. This obsession with winning, at the cost of its impact on human lives, is not worth the heartbreak and the upheaval of families.
