And then the critics come calling. Looking for the weak spot in your people is a leadership flaw. I know some leaders like that. They rarely focus on the strengths, or on what people do well. They evaluate talent by looking for the superficial weak spots. How else would they justify a meager raise? Or none at all, for that matter?
Sometimes the critics sit in the cheap seats. Passing judgement on the best way to hit a shot, or solve a problem, is the job of those firmly entrenched in the peanut gallery, or on their couches. No life was ever built from the couch. Ever.
Don’t take the critics to heart. The people that matter in your life know the real you. They support, encourage, cheer, advise, and celebrate.
And they rarely sit in the peanut gallery.
