Dinner is served. The family gathers around the dinner table to celebrate the festivities. Yet, there is an empty chair in honor of those that have moved on.
The table is laden, but the void is real. It’s been an unusual year with the loss of loved ones — some who were unable to survive an invisible enemy, others whose time had come for other reasons.
I know the pain of losing a loved one, and that hollow, empty feeling that gets all too real during the holidays.
Leave the empty chair at the dinner table, as a token of love and respect for those who have gone. However, continue to cherish their memory and continue to count your blessings.
