The End of the Season

election

Today marks the end of a bitter and ugly political season. The rhetoric has been hateful, and social media has been ablaze with much of that hate — most of it in poor taste. The comedians have had a field day, though the outcome is no laughing matter.

That having been said, I believe that the common bonds that make us Americans bind us closer than the differences that separate us. The healing will take time. The rhetoric has been toxic for too long.

The beauty of the democratic process is that we must respect the verdict of the people, irrespective if “our” candidate won, or lost.

That is the beauty of freedom. That is the beauty of America. Let the healing begin.

  1. Sir, I couldn’t agree more. Like the current President said yesterday, “we are Americans first”! So before we can proceed as a nation we need to reach out to our fellow Americans from across the aisle and begin the healing process. Those two candidates were only a possibility because people are scared on both sides. If we treat each other as Americans with respect and honesty I believe that we can fix our problems together.
