The three dogs look at me with utter confusion, “where is she?” I look at them with the same lost look. She left for India to take care of her ailing parents and to spend what might be their last Christmas together. Small comfort for the pups, as they have no concept of time.
Our world is just a tad out of equilibrium with Rohini out of the country. She is the glue that holds us all together, and makes us a family. We will be fine, and she will be back soon. It’s just difficult to explain it to the pups, as they roam through our home looking for her.
The house is eerily quiet — maybe because she isn’t yelling at me, or playing with them. And maybe because her infectious laughter does not ring through our home.
She will be back soon, and balance will be restored. Till then, the dogs and I will continue to exchange lost looks of hopelessness, and eagerly await her return.
