We can learn a lot about compassion from the medics that make saving lives, their calling. The skills of the surgeons, the kindness of the nurses, the compassion of the administrative staff — all worthy of envy, applause and gratitude.
Kudos to the medics at Holy Cross, and the medical professionals at Kaiser Permanente for saving the life of someone I dearly love. The battle that lies ahead is not for the faint of heart, yet the skills and kindness of these wonderful professionals will make the arduous journey easier.
The one universal truth I have learned these past few weeks is to not sweat the small stuff. That the kindness of strangers goes a long way in helping us deal with life’s troughs. Thank you to all these talented people who made the past two weeks less painful, and more bearable. I owe you a debt of gratitude.
