The Pinocchio Effect

We have all been guilty of the occasional white lie — or the not so white lie — to get out of trouble. However, lying as a way of life is neither acceptable nor professional. Compulsive liars in the workplace deflect blame, taking credit for other people’s work, constantly justify their position, and lie habitually. One more thing — they talk a lot and never listen. The sad part is that they know they are lying, as does everyone else.

The irony is that those that thrive on lies lose credibility very quickly, and everyone knows the office Pinocchio.  Covering your behind to drop your colleagues on theirs, is never a good quality. If you don’t have integrity, you have nothing. It starts with being honest, dependable, and telling the truth.
