Eckhart Tolle, recommends that we spend little time dwelling in the past, and has little use for the past, in his own life. The concept of living in the NOW has struck a cord with me. We too often worry about the bygones, or contemplate too much into the future.
In essence, we lose the power of NOW. I think we need to live in the present with a strong focus on today, and teach ourselves to enjoy living in the moment. The goal is to seek lasting happiness — not fleeting rushes of euphoria, that ebbs and flows like the tide. Living in the NOW allows you to do that.
My practice of Yoga and meditation has taught me to live in the present, and not to get ahead of myself. When the past, the present and the future collide in chaos, I just shut my eyes and breathe. Try it sometime — it works wonders for the soul.
Inspiring, very well said.
