Freedom

DC_Jasmine_Rohan-pThe seat of power in the USA rests firmly in Washington DC —there has never been any debate about that. Even the self-serving inclinations of our politicians can’t dampen the spirit of freedom that has been the bedrock of this wonderful country. It is interesting to walk around this beautiful city and see the history that resides here.

As you take off the rose tinted glasses and look beyond the majestic Memorials that line the National Mall, you can’t help but think about the thousands of people who gave their lives so we could enjoy ours.

What inspires one to give their lives for people they did not know, or in some cases, causes they did not believe in? Did these brave men and women fight for an ideology of freedom or because they did not have a choice?

Either way, we as a nation came out ahead. As I looked at the “reflection pond” that graces the Mall, I silently saluted those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

To do our small part, are we willing to be more giving to those less fortunate than us?
