A handsome actor of Indian Cinema, Mr. Sushant Singh Rajput hung himself in his Mumbai apartment. He was thirty four. A life full of promise and potential succumbed to the demons of mental health. Tragic in so many ways. He clearly was not the first, and will certainly not be the last to perish to this silent affliction.
Mental health challenges are not a sign of weakness. It is a cry for help. When no one heeds to that cry for help, the demons get the better of us.
We run to the doctors when the body is injured. When the mind is injured we tend to “suck it up”. We should talk about it, remove the stigma, get the help, and lend support to those that are hurting. It will take a village to end this senseless, tragic, loss of life.
