I miss the energy of a college campus with all its youthful exuberance. I miss the intellectual engagement in the classroom with my students. I miss the light hearted lunches with my colleagues and friends. I will miss celebrating the graduation of my students, as commencement holds a special place in my heart.
I miss the hugs of the children at the Montessori, who use me as the perfect ploy to get away from their tasks at hand. I miss seeing the teachers that comprise the best team we have ever assembled.
I miss fine wine shared with great friends. I miss eating out at our local dives, and those cold beers, and idle banter with my buddies.
Most of all, I miss the optimism and positivity that was central to our world — now replaced by anxiety, uncertainty and the fear of the unknown. I know the good times will roll back around. Till then, patience should be our greatest virtue.
