Why do we need special days, like Fathers’ Day yesterday, to celebrate those that we love? Why do we need a tragedy, like the one in Orlando, to make us slow down? Why do we need a tough phone call, like a friend being diagnosed with cancer, to create perspective for us in our lives?
We must work hard, yet slow down. We must celebrate those we love, each waking moment. We must learn not to sweat the small stuff, and keep it real. I recently read a profound question — what would you do if you knew you had just 12 days to live? Think about that for a second.
Call those you love, often. Nurture your relationships every day.
And cherish the ties that bind.
