Golf can be a cruel game. Ask Francisco Molinari, as he dumped two balls in the water, and played himself out of the Masters tournament.
And then there’s golf magic, in the hands of Tiger Woods. A rare, generational talent, who beat the best players in the world to win his 5th Masters. Not bad for a guy who almost walked away from the game with a bad back, which required four surgeries.
The fan in me is ecstatic, and I was emotionally moved to see him celebrate with his young children and his family. Isn’t that what life is all about?
“Tiger on the prowl”, is a common clutch for commentators. There is no denying the intimidation factor, as he stalked the golf course and those around him continued to slip off the leader board.
His ability to control the golf ball is magical. If you have ever played golf, or attempted to hit a golf ball, his genius will stand out. He seems to always win the game between the ears.
Tiger Woods personal transgressions are well documented, but this is about Tiger the golfer — not Tiger the man. Besides, we all live in glass houses and have had our share of personal failures.
Today, Tiger won a big one for the old guys. And, for me, he put the fun back in being a golf fan. Can’t wait till the next time he tee’s it up. Cheers to my favorite golfer, and congrats to an incredible champion.
