A thirty minute train ride from Dublin is the village of Howth. Caught in a time warp, this small fishing village is nestled on the shores of the Irish Sea. The scenery is breathtaking and spectacular. The seawall, with it’s unique rock formations, protects the harbor where hundreds of fishing boats cluster together, almost as if they were protecting each other from the chilly wind that blew effortlessly across the water.
The quaint town is dotted by seafood restaurants along the winding road that hugs the coastline. The visual imagery is romantic and refreshing. The adjoining hills offer the perfect landscape for the rich and famous who call Howth home, and find solace in the sanctuary of this quaint setting.
In my many travels around the world, there have been few places that have captured my senses and nurtured my soul. Howth is certainly one of them. Who would have thought, that a tiny, nondescript fishing village would find such a special place in my heart? God’s majestic brush strokes have yet again painted natures perfect masterpiece.
