The Vultures

They circle overhead, looking for the vulnerable and the feeble. These scavenging birds of prey operate in groups, and move in for the kill the first chance they get. They are the ugly bearers of death and doom. And destruction.

Meet the vultures of business — smooth talking snake oil salesmen who prey on new, innocent entrepreneurs who have passion in their eyes. The modus operandi is classic — drop names, and boast of access to the dream makers. “I can make you millions”, one commented over breakfast, the other day, “but I will need major equity in the business”. Sure. I too want to be tall, dark, and handsome — and rich!

I learned years ago that when it sounds too good to be true, it usually is……
It takes a lot more than smooth talk, and name dropping, to impress me. It takes more than spinning dreams to build a successful business. “Watch out for the vultures”, I recently told someone. “The only thing they care about is preying on the gullible and feeding their own selfish appetites”.
